Cathay Inn has been a beloved fixture in Spokane, WA, since 1950. Our family-owned and operated restaurant has built a reputation for offering familiar Chinese and American dishes and cocktails in quaint surroundings. Over the years, Cathay Inn has maintained its commitment to treating customers like family and serving the finest, freshest, quality ingredients.

Our History

In 1950, Tom F. Eng, the first generation, introduced Spokane to the delicacies of fine Chinese cuisine at his restaurant, Cathay Inn, located at 3714 North Division. Following him came Eddie Eng, then Dennis Eng and Raymond Eng, each carrying forward the family tradition. Tom’s dedication to treating customers like family quickly made Cathay Inn a cornerstone of the community. 

With a focus on fresh, high-quality ingredients and excellent service, Tom established a strong foundation that continues to this day. The restaurant has remained true to these values through four generations of family ownership, and with Raymond’s sons, Greyson Eng and Everett Eng, there is great hope that the family legacy will continue into the next generation.

Our Tradition and Legacy

Cathay Inn’s long-standing tradition is built on serving exceptional food and creating memorable dining experiences. Our menu features popular Chinese dishes like Kung Pao Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Egg Foo Young, and Mongolian Beef, alongside American favorites such as burgers, steaks, and salads.
